It's really incredible how much you can learn about someone if you just ask.
As part of the Senior Portrait Experience, I send out a (kind of cheesy) totally optional questionnaire. Some folks opt out of this part, and I completely respect that. I don't need any personal details in order to take a beautiful photo of a client. But for the folks that do submit answers, I can take the information and design a session that tells more of a story. And I'm all about stories!!
I love senior sessions because, more often than not, these young adults have a very clear vision as to how they want to be captured and what they want the photos to say about them.
Allow me to share some examples.
Bryanna gave me so many incredible details about her college journey. She shared how she was President of the Professional Paper Club for Engineers. After asking her more about this, she shared that she had access to the paper machines and that we could take photos there - SAY WHAT!!?? So, we made up some paper accessories (yes, with paper made on that very machine), and got some really unique shots that tell her story.
4 years, 2 degrees, one full-time job... how can we scream this to the world? On the iconic Free-Expression tunnel!
Bryanna also shared with me the challenges that were handed to her throughout her college career. Specifically, she said that life had handed her a lot of 'lemons'. This got me thinking, and for fun we did a 'Lemons to Lemonade' shoot. This one was so much fun and has so much meaning behind it.
She also shared her passion for Wolfpack sports, and how she and her friends take their game-day outfits very seriously- so you know we had to highlight that!
All of these were possible simply because she filled out her questionnaire in a detailed way and gave me a glimpse of her story! Best of all, they all serve to validate her HARD WORK and highlight her fun personality.
Collaborations like this are what I live for! If you have a ton of ideas, or none at all, we can work together to create something unique to you!
