If you've answered the 'what time' question, congratulations!! You're over the hardest part of booking a photography session! Schedules are difficult, so pat yourself on the back for coordinating that part of it!
You have now graduated to the 2nd phase of the process: planning outfits!!!
I'm sure some of you read that sentence sarcastically, and some of you are genuinely excited about this phase. Either way, I'm going to give you my spiel on this topic because it's one I feel very strongly about.
If you are worried about what to wear for your session, I am going to give you some tips on what is going to photograph nicely, but in general my answer is going to be this:
Wear what YOU want. And if you just can't decide... bring the whole wardrobe.
I am dead serious. If you show up at your photo shoot looking like a Kardashian, I'm here for it. Likewise, if you show up dressed like Bozo the Clown...I'm here for that too! Chances are you're probably a very entertaining person to be around and that's how all your friends know you. If I haven't captured your personality, I haven't done my job. So, you have to bring a little of YOU to the party, and your personal style is going to help tell your story.
That shirt you love? Iron that puppy out and wear it! Or maybe you are a fashionista and you can't wait to go shopping for a new ensemble. If you feel good in what you're wearing, you're going to be more focused on being present in your session, rather than constantly second guessing what is on your body.
Make no mistake, I am still here to make sure that whatever outfit you choose, you're going to look like a million bucks. If you have a button undone or a curl out of place, I got you.
From personal experience, I can honestly say every time I try to match the trend or if I take advice from others on what I should wear, I feel like a phony and it makes me feel self-conscious. Then I look at the photos and I don't know who that person is.
You do you!!
If you're doing group photos, pick a color palate and go nuts. These photos are for you, so you get to make the rules. Not me, not Pinterest. You. I'm here to light you beautifully, pose you in a flattering way, and capture genuine expressions. With our powers combined we can tell your story in a unique way!
Now go raid that closet!!!
